Rusty Burnett

Partner, Matador Project Solutions

In Rusty’s 16 years of operating the Austin office of Raymond Construction as Senior Vice President and a principal, he was responsible for the overall performance of all design-build and construction projects in the Central Texas region, including business development, conceptual and detailed estimating, critical path scheduling, contract negotiation, design team coordination, construction management, conflict resolution, personnel training and client satisfaction.

A large portion of the projects Rusty managed were design-build where the design team was under contract and worked directly for Raymond Construction. This gave Rusty real insight to the challenges of executing an accurate set of documents on a timeline and the amount of coordination required by the “conductor” to orchestrate the process successfully.

While with Raymond Construction, Rusty was responsible for delivering over 400 million in completed commercial construction in a wide variety of project types including office, manufacturing, industrial, retail, medical, municipal, recreational and fitness.

Prior to this, Rusty worked for White Construction from 1985 to 1998. He started as an assistant superintendent at St David’s Hospital and spent five years in the field on a wide variety of projects prior to becoming an assistant project manager and working up through the ranks to Senior Project Manager in 1990. He strongly believes that those early years and long hours on numerous muddy construction sites gave him vital experience in what it takes to build not only a successful project but also a successful team.
